Your transmission’s shift points are exactly what you think they are - the points at which your transmission shifts. From the transmission experts at Joe's Transmission and Auto Repair in Calhoun, KY, here’s what you need to know about them.

Your transmission is optimized to shift at a certain time, in a certain way, determined by factors such as speed, load, acceleration, and so on. Proper shift points are essential to gas mileage, access to engine power when you need it, and overall drivability. Shift points are controlled by a variety of systems, including electronic modules, vacuum, fluid pressure, and driver input.

Over time, it may be necessary to calibrate your shift points. Normal transmission wear and tear, fluid condition, and shift related transmission components all contribute to how and when your transmission shifts. As these parts wear out or fail, bad parts must be replaced, and adjustments must be made to ensure you’re getting the most out of your transmission, preventing premature failure and drivability issues.

To have your shift points checked and corrected, look no further than our professional technicians. No matter your repair or maintenance needs, we’ve got you covered. For the best transmission service shop in Calhoun, KY, call or stop by Joe's Transmission and Auto Repair today.
